At the time I promised to send a reminder towards the end of January. This is the reminder. Thank you to the various ministers and treasurers who have already responded to the survey of current ministry remuneration. The survey can be either completed directly into the Excel spreadsheet and emailed back or filled in on a printout and mailed back. Please complete one worksheet(there are several tabs for this purpose) for each minister or ministry worker. For consistency please use the salary and allowances at the end of 2012 not 2013. The letter sets the deadline for the survey as April 30 but it would be great if the surveys could be sent back as soon as possible so we can start collating these before starting on the submissions. That will help establish a context before considering the submissions which may take longer for sessions to consider. We look forward to your responses, Tony Deenick On behalf of the MMRC Tony Deenick 14 Macarthur Ave, Mt Ousley, NSW, 2519 Tel: 61 2 4243 1379 Mob: 0418 973 869 email: a deenick at optusnet.com.au ABN: 37 368 216 034 -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I regularly send out email updates, including articles, training opportunities and child safety information. Also, where possible, I'd like to contact them personally to encourage, support and equip them in their ministry. If you think this would be helpful for your workers can you please send their information when convenient (even if the details haven't changed). I pointed out that knowing what your particular spiritual gifts are can be liberating. If I am a shy and withdrawing kind of person and I'm asked to take some leadership position then that frees me up to say, "No! Leadership is not the area where God has gifted me! Let me serve the Body of Christ in some other way." This past week I did some further thinking about that and I really do need to qualify what I said. That is where we get all the point people from the different ministries in Grace Church come together to strategise/brainstorm/pray together in our efforts to ensure our church is healthy and on track with God's plans for us. This is a very important event and I want to ask for your prayers for us. Another event [happening on the same day] has come up which we also need representation from our church is the 'Advance Together' conference at the Willeton Reformed Church (South Perth). As our point leaders are locked in for the CMLM, I am asking for some of you to consider representing our church at this event. I would be good if at least 6 folks could go, as all the W.A. CRCA churches will be present and we can't be seen as being absent. Please look at the attached document. If you are involved in any of the areas mentioned, can you please consider attending this event - so representing Grace CRC? We would then love to get the info you gained from this event passed on to the rest of our ministry teams. I'd love to hear from you. John ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: John Zuidema Date: Fri, Mar 1, 2013 at 9:25 AM Subject: Re: Church Planting Taskforce To: Alet Nel Cc: CRCA Clerks Dear CPT, Greetings to you. At our Session meeting last night we discussed your request (appeal) and no one was in favour of your request for the following reasons. a) At Synod the CPT was given permission to loan $100,000.00 (at 0%) from MAMA to be repaid back by the churches in subsequent trienniums. b) We find it disrespectful to ask Sessions to nominate people whom we may think are 'well-to-do'. This is something that we are unwilling to do. Furthermore, as elders we have an obligation to protect our members and this would certainly be a betrayal of confidence and may well cause them unnecessary harassment. To 'assume', that someone may be 'well-to-do' can not only be embarrassingly wrong, it fails to take into consideration that there may be others who are not so 'well-to-do' who may be able to assist in other profitable ways. Furthermore, there is no suggestion from you that we should approach these people first, but simply to give you their names. This is just wrong. c) The CPT already has a 'prescribed' offering allocated to it. A further consideration for which we seek clarification is on the BOM's recommendation Art 40.4.3: "no requests for specific or special fundraising be approved and that, if possible, when a restructuring of activities occurs, it be done with a view to reducing expenditure; (cf. compare WMDS mandate and name 4.4.c)" We realize that this clashes with the CPT recommendations Article 38. 6.3; However, it has always been understood that recommendations from the BOM (BFC) always takes precedence on budgetary matters. This is also one of the reasons why their report is the last to be dealt with at Synod. Respectfully submitted on behalf of the Dee Why CRC Session.
