[Mins] CPT fund raising

In response to the email to pastors and church councils from the Church
Planting Taskforce - 

 

It is good to hear about those who are enthusiastic for their particular
Synodical tasks, however we can't help but wonder if the email sent to the
churches seeking additional funding was a very wise effort, and in fact an
inappropriate effort of any Synodical committee whether addressed to all
churches or a subset of the denomination. 

 

We note the following:

 

1.       SYNOD 1988 - Art 74.8.   That no deputy or committee shall approach
the churches for any form of funding outside those specifically approved by
Synod or the SIC.

2.       In Victoria at least, we are aware that there are privacy laws
concerning what is being asked of the Sessions, and unless individuals
approve of their personal details being passed on this cannot happen

3.       We ourselves would be loath to make judgements which assess the
dollar value of our members.

4.       We really need to learn how to live within the means God provides
us
