All CRCA congregations are encouraged to participate in the 2021 NCLS Church Life Survey. As churches we are committed to “grow healthy churches that nurture and equip their members and grow throughout Australia and the world.” Engagement in the NCLS 2021 survey will assist local churches and the CRCA to grow in our gospel impact.
NCLS is built upon a history of collaboration with over 20 denominations in Australia, including the CRCA. Every five years NCLS has heard the voices of those who attend Christian churches. This has allowed NCLS to speak with authority to the health and current realities of the Christian church in Australia.
Participation in the 2021 NCLS will offer a resource:
- to the nation about the Australian Church and its people, individual denominations
- to states and classes about their vitality and about the life of their churches
- to local churches about their spiritual and pastoral strengths
- to local church leaders about their people’s hopes concerns and commitmente. to researchers about the very nature of church today
The 2021 NCLS would provide a reality check for Christians in Australia, alongside the 2021 national census.
The NCLS will give opportunity:
- For local churches: to help them reflect and plan
- For local leadership: to increase effectiveness and sustainability
- For pastors to receive feedback on their leadership strengths and how to develop them, as well as the sustainability of how they are leading. There will also be support for leadership teams.
- For CRCA Ministry Formation to evaluate the status of our national global impact, to support local churches (through access to measures of the health and vitality of each participating church) and to support church leaders.

Once churches receive their results the CRCA Development Coach, Jack De Vries, will be in touch with each church and Classis to provide support, encouragement, and assistance in engaging with the outcomes of these surveys.
Quick Facts
NCLS will contact all churches and they will be asked to order the survey forms for their congregation. These forms can either be online or paper copies. Churches can also order a child survey for church attenders aged 8-14.
The cost for this survey is $250 plus $2 for each attender survey form ordered. No payment is required upfront. The CRCA will collect payments from all participating churches.
In addition, there will be a leader survey and census survey (the red and green forms). These surveys need to be filled out as well for each church. The census survey will give not only a snapshot overview of the CRCA but also an overall picture of the Christian Church in Australia. The leader survey will give personalized feedback on the well-being, resilience, and effectiveness of church leaders.
